Recognizing our responsibility to First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples

As an organization based in Toronto and Stratford, Ontario, the Provocation Ideas Festival acknowledges that the land upon which we are planning this Festival is the traditional territory of the Mississaugas of the Credit, the Chippewa and Anishinaabeg, the Haudenosaunee and the Wendat Confederacies, and the traditional territory of the Haudenosaunee, Anishinaabe, and the Neutral (Attawandaron) Peoples and is now home to many diverse First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples across Turtle Island. This territory is subject to Treaty 13 and the Dish With One Spoon Wampum Belt Convenant, and the Dish With One Spoon Wampum Belt Covenant and the Huron Track Treaty. We are grateful to have the opportunity to live, work and play on this land.

The Provocation Ideas Festival also acknowledges our responsibilities to these territorial agreements and will strive to embrace treaties through relationship-building and programming.
